Program areas at Quivira Coalition

Education program & annual conference - we aim to empower communities to pursue regenerative land conservation and agricultural practices through peer-to-peer, participatory knowledge exchange, uplifting all voices in the pursuit of ecological and economic resilience and equity. This program conducts workshops and publishes a website, journals, e-newsletters, technical field guides, and books. Additionally, we produce an annual conference for ranchers, conservationists, public land managers, tribal entities, scientists, and members of the public to discuss relevant issues related to land stewardship and climate change resilience strategies.
New agrarian program - nap pairs beginning agrarians with experienced, regenerative ranchers across the west to provide eight-month, hands-on, regenerative ranching apprenticeships. We provide holistic training and education calls in addition to apprentices's hands-on work, giving context to careers in ranching through discussions about financial planning for ranchers, indigenous bison reintroduction work, drought management, and soil health monitoring. Our anticipated impact is providing beginning agrarians with the skills, training, and resources for lifelong careers in regenerative agriculture.
The carbon ranch initiative conducts research, facilitates stakeholder engagement and education, and provides technical support to build the capacity of producers, land stewards, and those that serve them such as researchers and technical support providers, to test and implement evidence-based land management practices focused on mitigation of and adaptation to climate change.
Coalition to enhance working lands - nmcewl and cocewl are coalitions of dynamic organizations and individuals working together to address the challenges facing those working to enhance the health and productivity of new mexico's and Colorado's working lands. Expense 164,901 revenue 763 land and water program - furthers Quivira's mission through four initiatives: improving land health, building local capacity, disseminating knowledge and innovation, and strengthening diverse relationships. In the past eighteen years, program activities have included land management, restoration projects, hands-on workshops, land health monitoring, mentoring and incubating new restoration practitioner businesses, and general promotion of land literacy. Currently, the overarching goal of this program is to encourage and assist with the regeneration of riparian ecosystems and grasslands through demonstration projects that integrate all four program initiatives. Quivira also participates in various committees and coalitions committed to implementing land health projects. Expense 13,768 revenue 0
