Residential Options, Inc. an affiliate company of Challenge Unlimited, Inc. was formed in 1989 after the State of Illinois approached Challenge Unlimited to take on a housing crisis for people living in institutionalized settings. Our mission is to offer alternative housing choices to individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness, and to offer families the comfort that comes with knowing their loved ones receive the best quality care and quality of life in a community-based setting.

Program areas at Residential Options

The organization provides services in two programs, community integrated living arrangement (cila) and intermediate care facility for the developmentally disabled (icfdd). Residents in both programs are provided with support, which assists them to live, work, and participate in the community. Certain cila residents participate in the medical rehabilitation option, which provides for funding of specific rehabilitation services.
