Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester NY

The Organization operates the 24-bedroom Ronald McDonald House, the 7-bedroom House Within the Hospital, and the 2-bedroom Family Room at Unity Hospital. These facilities provide temporary lodging to families of ill or injured children under the age of 21. The Westmoreland House is in close proximity to Strong Memorial Hospital and the House Within the Hospital is physically located within the hospital. In 2022, the Ronald McDonald House at Westmoreland provided a total of 6,141 family nights, the House Within the Hospital provided 1,903 family nights and the Family Room at Unity provided 31 family nights. The Organization was able to welcome back volunteers to our programs in 2022 which included Make a Meal groups at the Westmoreland House which received 175 donated meals for the families made in a newly renovated kitchen. The Organization hosted its first annual Family Reunion to bring families together and enjoy a day with their loved ones. The Organization also has 4 day use programs: the Family Room Golisano Children's Hospital, the Mental Health and Wellness Family Room, the Family Lounge in Rochester General Hospital, and the outpatient comfort cart at Strong Memorial Hospital. The Family Room at Golisano Children's Hospital re-opened in 2022 for the first time since the pandemic which provided food and respite to 1,292 visitors. The Mental Health and Wellness Family Room was open for a portion of the year and the Family Lounge at Rochester General Hospital remained closed. The comfort cart provided over 3,600 health snack bags to pediatric patients and their families. Funds are solicited through a variety of fundraising initiatives.
