Ot is also used to help children adapt to sensory and environmental distractions. Schreiber is one of only four facilities in the entire country certified in constraint induced movement therapy (cimt).
In march 2020, Schreiber added an outpatient behavioral health program that works with children ages 3 to 20 with a variety of mental health diagnoses. Each child has an individualized treatment plan designed to effectively meet the specific goals of the child and family. In addition to individual sessions, our therapists provide parent/caregiver, sibling, family, and group therapy sessions. Play and other treatment modalities are incorporated into the session to encourage communication, self-expression, and learning towards designated goals to practice new skills in a fun and playful environment. During the current fiscal year, behavioral health provided service to 73 children which accounted for 1,284 visits.
S.t.a.r.s. Preschool is open to all children in the community. It is one of just a few preschools based on 'reverse mainstreaming', a term referring to expanding the program to include both children with special needs and typically developing children. By playing together, children learn to understand, accept and value diversity. Children were offered a year-round program that helps them reach their educational and developmental milestones.
