Program areas at Sky Dog Sanctuary
In 2022, Sky Dog Sanctuary continued to successfully care for over 220 wild horse and burros from at-risk situations across america.this year, we focused on special needs mustangs and started the year by adopting five horses from the blm, two with blindness issues, one with broken withers, sway back and a depressed boy who had been returned by a trainer for being unhandleable. During this year, skydog took in over 25 horses including another special needs horse named lily who had an auto immune disease. We spent six months treating her and she is now totally healed.we also focused on wild burros to draw attention to their plight as well. We took in three senior donkeys from the blm corrals, rescued five senior blm burros from a kill pen who had been rounded up two months earlier. We also rescued over 20 donkeys, mules, hybrids such as zonkeys and a zorse as well as a baby zebra to highlight their plight.our social media grew again to over 550 thousand followers on facebook and 175 thousand on instagram. We also started a second instagram @skydogdonkeys just to focus on our donkeys which has over 8,000 followers already.our dodo story about blue zeus led to a coffee table book deal and a feature length documentary feature both of which will be coming in 2023. Both will help to raise awareness and educate which is 50% of our mission statement.our patreon and sponsorship programs both grew enormously and are funding so many expensive rescues where we provide first class help to animals who would otherwise be euthanized by other rescues for the cost of treatment.in 2022, we continue to be the leading and best supported wild horse and burro organization in america allowing us to lead the way in showing the best practices for handling and caring for our residents and be the gold standard in care and attention for these worthy horses and donkeys.
