Program areas at Sojourner House / Webosset Hill Station
Housing programs - Sojourner House provides assistance to individuals and families to help them find and secure housing through transitional housing programs, rapid rehousing programs, and permanent supportive housing programs. Clients are assisted in locating an apartment and receive rental assistance and supportive services throughout their time in the program. In fiscal year 2022, we provided 48,512 bed nights in rapid rehousing to 234 clients and 22,946 bed nights in permanent supportive housing to 72 clients, as well as 15,806 bed nights in transitional housing to 74 clients. The short-term rental assistance program helps clients pay past rent, security deposits, and utility bills. In fiscal year 2022, we helped 15 clients for a total of $32,690 in short-term rental assistance. We also provided 1,249 bed nights in crisis housing for 17 clients.
Trafficking: Sojourner House provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, basic needs, clinical counseling, and related supportive services to victims of human trafficking. In fy 2022, the theia emergency shelter served a total of 30 clients for a total of 2,031nights. We also served 8 clients in 6 units for a total of 2,334 bed nights in the trafficking transitional housing program.
Drop in/community service/education: Sojourner House operates a drop-in center advocacy and resource center in the city of providence. Clients can access emotional support, support groups, clinical therapy, hiv testing, immigration advocacy, and other related programs. During our 2022 fiscal year, we provided a total of 9,199 sessions across our community programs for a total of 4,009 hours. Over 175 clients received clinical services for 1,619 sessions and 1,391 hours. 222 total hiv tests were administered, 194 hep-c tests were administered and 1,050 people were outreached through hiv education and outreach efforts. A total of 122 clients attended 198 support groups for 272 hours. Additionally, 285 clients received legal immigration advocacy for 1,597 sessions for 1,257 hours.finally, Sojourner House envisions a world free of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Therefore we provide a wide array of educational trainings, workshops, and programming to youth of all ages. During the fy 2022 fiscal year, Sojourner House provided 324 total school-based sessions and reached 6,262 participants; and 55 community education sessions that reached 744 participants.
Emergency and shelter interventions - Sojourner House provides immediate, emergency interventions to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. We provide three emergency shelters, including a specific shelter for victims of human trafficking and a residential program tailored for the lgbtq+ community. During the fy 2022 year, we provided 8,831 bed nights to 110 clients. Over 1,471 hotline calls were answered and over 4,242 referrals were made to other agencies.
