Description
South Central Workforce Council develops and maintains a quality workforce for South Central Minnesota. It serves approximately 55 adults, 123 dislocated workers, and 76 at-risk youth through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, Title I (WIOA Title I) by providing employment and training services. The council also offers services in Faribault, Le Sueur, Martin counties under the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) to decrease long-term welfare dependency through employment services.

Program areas at South Central Workforce Council

Workforce innovation and opportunity act, title i (wioa title i) provides employment and training services for adults, dislocated workers, and at risk youth. Approximately 110 adults were served; 66 dislocated workers and 71 youth were served. The Minnesota state dislocated worker program provides employment and training services for dislocated workers. Approximately 160 additional dislocated workers were served through the mn state dislocated worker program and approximately 256 youth were served through the mn youth at work program. All wioa title i adult, dislocated worker and youth performance standards were met or exceeded.
The Council is partnering with adult basic education and South Central college to develop "fasttrack" career pathway programs that develop sector- based career pathways for low-skilled adults. Last year 136 low-skilled adults participated in the pathway programs.
The Minnesota family investment program (mfip) is designed to decrease long-term welfare dependency through employment services. Mfip is Minnesota's temporary assistance to needy families (tanf) program. Services are provided in: faribault, lesueur, martin, nicollet, sibley, waseca, and watonwan counties. Approximately 1,046 individuals were served through the mfip and diversionary work program. The snap e&t program provides job search assistance to individuals receiving food support. Last year 139 individuals were served through snap e&t.
The South Central Workforce Council provides training twice a year to the service providers. Approximately 200 service providers received training.
