Program areas at Success in Education Foundation
Keys to Success: the goal of the program is to inspire change in the students' lives by motivating, connecting, and rewarding them for their improvements in educational performance. in the fall of 2018, the keys to Success app was launched to provide students with scholarships, internships, and other career opportunities personalized to their chosen career interests. Students can track their progress, receive push notifications, and use additional tools like the act prep and fasfa help to help them unlock their future. The more students interact with the app, the more points students earn that can be redeemed for awesome prizes. The app makes it easy for parents to engage with their students' future, goals, and career interests. The 2021-2022 school year ended with 101,625 student app downloads and with 160 million in scholarships/tuition waivers available in the app. During the school year, academic scholarships were awarded to 178 students. The keys to Success program also sponsored 1 statewide assembly video, accompanied by virtual assembly livestreams for 180 schools, and 1 television event. The program provided 19,500 prizes and incentives for students, with one grand prize of a car giveaway.
Road to Success: the goal of the program is to provide incentives to help students achieve reading goals. During the 2021-2022 school year, the program was utilized by 79 elementary schools, more than 7,000 students and resulted in more than 19 million minutes logged as read. The program helps to improve literacy, vocabulary, and communication skills by encouraging daily and lifelong reading habits.
Code to Success & esports: the purpose of code to Success is to provide coding and web development principles for students interested in computer science. This program bridges the gap between Education and industry by getting students interested in programming and setting them on a successful Education pathway. The 2021-2022 program had 295 Utah students actively engaged, with a 76% of those students completing the program. A new cybersecurity course was piloted for two weeks of the program. Student feedback of the cybersecurity program was excellent. The program provided code to Success graduation certificates for students who completed the program. These certificates were accompanied by a letter of completion of the first three stackable credentials for those students who completed both coding foundations and dissecting react js courses during the six-week program. Stackable credentials and college credit opportunities were provided through bottega. The purpose of ken garff esports is to enhance and enrich scholastic experiences through and beyond gaming. in the 2021-2022 school year, there were 73 middle and high school "ken garff esports" clubs throughout the state of Utah. The Foundation provided 1,500 grants to support each club, totaling 109,500. in the 2021-2022 school year, ken garff esports held two major events, the "fall festival- and the "spring celebration" where we reached more than 700 students statewide. in partnership with the university of Utah's entertainment arts and engineering program, we announced a 10,000 scholarship fund, exclusively reserved for ken garff esports club students.
Women who succeed: the purpose of women who succeed is to provide opportunities for girls and young women to grow in confidence and leadership skills. We do this through providing mentoring, scholarships, internships, and networking opportunities. During the 2021-2022 school year, 261 young women received mentorship, 32 interns were placed, and 53,000 were awarded in scholarship dollars to 25 young women.
