The Texas Organ Sharing Alliance (TOSA) is one of only 58 non-profit 501(c)(3), independent, federally-designated Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs) in the United States dedicated to educating and providing organ donation and recovery services to families wishing to donate and to those waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. Founded in 1975 TOSA provides service to more than 100 hospitals and six transplant centers in 56 Central and South Texas Counties. TOSA is based out of San Antonio and has regional offices in Austin and McAllen.

Program areas at TOSA

Organ transplantation: this includes the delivery of information, education, recovery, preservation, and movement of organs to other procurement agencies and transplant centers. During 2022: 280 donors were recovered within our service area with a total of 971 local organs and 328 imported organs into our service area. This is a total of 1,299 organs for transplants which benefited patients on a national Organ waiting list in 2022. The organization was able to save 1,098 human lives through the power of Organ donation program. Other tissues were recovered for transplant and research.
