Recovery from The pandemic is proving to be slow for non-profits in general when compared to for-profit organizations, and even more so among small, non-profit museums. In 2022 The Heritage made strides towards not only returning to normal, but also laid The groundwork for expanding our operations. Our Museum welcomed guests to explore exhibits showcasing our fresnel lenses from The st. joseph north pier inner and outer lights, The big three: shipbuilding in The st. joseph and benton harbor area, fatal crossing: northwest airlines flight 2501, and ladies of The lights: Michigan women in The u.s. lighthouse service. Our tour operations on The north pier, executed under contract with The city of st. joseph, also returned in 2022 and were conducted throughout The summer. Our lecture series and concert series offered educational and culturally enriching events available in person and streamed online. Our technology upgrades from 2021 continued to benefit The local business and community groups, including The american society of agricultural and biological engineers who hosted a worldwide conference from The Heritage's shepard hall ballroom. In late 2022, The Heritage hired dr. marco tomasi as our new executive director. With a robust background that includes experiences as an organizational management consultant and an academic faculty member, dr. tomasi has The skills to lead The Heritage team in The years ahead.
