Program areas at The Philbrook Museum of Art
Museum operations: maintain The facility for public viewing of Art collections. The Museum's historic structures and state-of-the-art facilities provide a unique platform of experience for our visitors. Our efforts also preserve an important element of tulsa's history while serving as a defining resource for our community and region.
Education: increase public knowledge of Art through educational programming. Increasing The relevance of The visual arts within The daily lives of our visitors is one of The Museum's key objectives. Our educational efforts focus on engaging an expanding audience with The beauty, challenges, histories, and inspiration of a complex culture and its visual expression. Various programs are available for adults, children, and families including Art classes, lectures, interactive programming, and self-guided Art activities. There is also an active docent program.
Exhibits and permanent Art collection maintenance: ensure The quality of permanent Art collections and provide special touring exhibits and programs to enhance Art appreciation. The Museum's permanent collection offers visitors a broad view of major Art movements in western civilization, as well as superb examples of non-western aesthetic expression. In addition, The Museum provides approximately 8 special/temporary exhibitions annually. These exhibitions strive to present The finest examples of artistic achievement available while providing a foil or complement to The works on semi-permanent display within our galleries. In fy2023, 174,052 people visited The Museum.
