Rhode Island Public Radio is the NPR member radio network for the state of Rhode Island. Its studios are located in the historic Union Station in downtown Providence. The network airs a format of news and talk from NPR, such as Morning Edition, On Point, and All Things Considered, as well as extensive local news coverage. Rhode Island Public Radio's mission is to provide quality journalism and compelling storytelling that informs, educates, and inspires community.

Program areas at The Public's Radio

2022 was a year of growth and accomplishment for The Public's Radio, highlighted by our ongoing partnership with frontline, in which we did significant work on an investigative project that continues through september of 2023, The hiring of a daily editor to deepen our commitment to broadcast and digital enterprise reporting, and coverage of The 2022 election. We also deepened our commitment to engagement journalism, holding two community events in partnership with The providence journal, The university of Rhode Island and Rhode Island college. The Public's Radio journalists were recognized with a number of regional and national awards for The enterprise and investigative work in 2022 that is at The core of our mission at The Public's radio.it was also a crucial year for our digital plan. We began The work of identifying a new platform on which to build a new website, hired a team of web developers and designers to help with that, and began The work that will lead to a new, more interactive website in 2023.behind The scenes, our development team began strategizing for new sources of philanthropic support for The long-term plans we have to build out our local journalism at The Public's Radio. We are seeking funds to add a science and environment reporter, a community engagement producer and a web editor, which we hope to secure in 2023.
