Youth outreach: to date, The Union has provided over 11,000 hours of free cultural programs to north omaha youth, which provide access to visual and performance Art opportunities. Our after-school programs, summer camps and our saturday Art club help our young artists find their individual voice, empowering them to be agents for change in their personal lives and communities.
Support for artists: through The co-op studios, fellowship, exhibition, populus fund and other public programs, The organization provided opportunities for over 40,000 community members to connect with The arts over The past five years. The Union serves over 1000 artists, each year, through our programs and professional development initiatives.
Performing arts: The Union's performing arts program is dedicated to The development of professional theatre artists and thought-provoking productions that reflect authentic and diverse narratives about experiences within The african diaspora. To date, we have produced 17 works for The stage, many exploring The untold history of our north omaha community.
Support for community: The Union's abundance garden includes 960 square feet of raised garden beds, a geodesic dome greenhouse for seedlings and off-season growing, a small fruit-tree orchard, composting facilities, a performance space, and an outdoor classroom used for community events and The Union's youth engagement programs. We have grown and freely distributed nearly 4000 lbs. Of produce since The garden opened in 2018. And, through community-driven projects that focus on neighborhood-level relationship building, The Union's neighborhood arts initiative provides local artists with opportunities for professional growth and north omaha residents, of all ages, with an array of opportunities to actively engage in creative practices, neighborhood rejuvenation, and building more positive community narratives through participation in The arts.
