Program areas at Washington Women In Need

When every woman has a clear path to achieve her full potential, communities thrive. To that end, wwin has granted more than $21m to Washington state Women since 1992. Today, wwin provides scholarships and supports to help Women facing barriers to opportunity succeed in college and careers, awarding $513,348 to more than 200 Women this year alone. Wwin prioritizes self-determination and community, supporting each woman's chosen path to fulfill her goals and fostering a network that has the power to lift each other and make generational change. Most notably, 98% percent of star scholars continue their education or complete their degrees. For program details, see schedule o.the star scholar program includes scholarships and supports for current scholars and alumnae. Wwin star scholars are awarded up to $5,000 annually toward the total cost of attendance for a postsecondary certification or degree, up to a first bachelor's degree, at an approved college or university in Washington state. The scholarship may be renewed to a lifetime maximum of $20,000. Wwin supported 200 star scholars this year with scholarship awards totaling $471,861 in fy23.star scholars are eligible to receive more comprehensive support through the program's resiliency fund that assists with one-time, unexpected expenses that could impact a scholar's ability to complete her education or pursue her desired career path. Current scholars may apply for a resiliency fund grant at any time, to a lifetime maximum of $2,000. Wwin awarded 46 resiliency fund grants in fy23, totaling $33,887.current star scholars and star scholar alumnae may utilize career coaching grants and receive individualized support to achieve their career goals by working one-on-one with a certified coach of their choosing. Wwin awarded 14 career coaching grants in fy23, totaling $7,600.current star scholars and star scholar alumnae are invited to participate in wwin connect, an online hub that includes community members, and is a platform for members to offer and receive educational and career support and build networks that foster career advancement. More than 200 individuals participated in wwin connect's inaugural year.
