Young at Art museum has been at the forefront of arts education in Broward county since 1989. Yaa is dedicated to championing the arts as part of a complete education and is guided by its mission to enrich our community through artistic, interactive experiences for all ages which inspire creativity and encourage an understanding of the world in which we live. In fiscal year ending may 31, 2023 Young at Art continued to provide permanent exhibition galleries inside its new location in the Broward mall. Step into the shoes of alice and wonderland in wonderscapes, a gallery dedicated to early childhood development, and walk into a larger-than-life tea kettle and cup learn about the history of graffiti Art, murals, and artist collectives, and collaborations. Yaa supports experiential learning through the eyes of living artists. Experience interdisciplinary installations by contemporary artists that appeal to a variety of senses. View multiple installations simultaneously in 11 former retail changing rooms in rotating, immersive, and instagram-worthy solo installations of various artists. Play unique video games designed by artists and commissioned by the museum. Yaa offers classes for kids, teens, and workshops for adults, art-filled parties, playdates, school fieldtrips, classroom outreaches, special events, yaa at home, sensory saturdays, and a host of outreaches to south Florida communities. Yaa also provided Art lessons to low-income students and families through its community initiatives. Programs included artreach, (Art -reconnecting and educating homeless adolescents through creativity and hope)a daily afterschool Art and academic enrichment program for children experiencing homelessness partnered with Broward county public schools; girls empowered at gender empowerment program through the arts at pace center for girls Broward; artreach Art club at dillard and north fork elementary schools; yaa on the go mobile Art museum traveling to schools, communities, festivals, libraries and parks to bring arts to thousands of visitors.
