Youth development:ymca of San Joaquin County step- up / bridge after school program:the ymca operates 13 free after school sites in partnership with stockton unified school district (step-up) and 10 sites in partnership with lodi unified school district (bridge). Each site serves over 90 students a day, totaling to over 3,000 youth that the ymca impacts daily. These programs offer tutorial and homework help, physical fitness activities through s.p.a.r.k.s. Curriculum, and enrichment activities. The ymca is part of a larger partnership with organizations like the university of pacific, the table community foundation, and the city of lodi to serve multiple elementary schools County wide. The funding for these programs come from both state and federal sources.ymca of San Joaquin County child care:the ymca operates 4 licensed child care centers in San Joaquin County. Ymca child care is a fee based program for kindergarten through eighth grade students attending lodi unified school district. We operate programs at elk horn, julia morgan, manlio silva, and podesta ranch elementary schools. With a focus on safety, health, and social growth and academic enrichment, our program gives kids a variety of programmatic and enrichment options to explore and develop their interests and talents. Our goal is to provide a safe, secure and caring place in which children can make friends, learn new skills, continue to develop positive self-esteem, and have fun.
Healthy living:ymca of San Joaquin County youth sports: our ymca offers sports leagues year-round for children between the ages of 3 through 17 in San Joaquin County. Our focus is on helping children of all levels develop fundamentals, teamwork, self-confidence, and new skills. The emphasis for the younger participants (3-9 years of age) is on building character, skills development, and fundamentals of the game. The program for our older participants (10-17 years of age) is a bit more competitive and has a more intense atmosphere.ymca first five program:the ymca provides a free home visitation program for families with children 0-5 and pregnant women to promote a fun and educational way to prepare a child for a healthy start in school. The program offers hands-on activities, early literacy development, parent workshops, early childhood education, and more. Ymca of San Joaquin County aquatics program:the ymca offers aquatics programs at 5 pools in stockton. Programs include swimming lessons, water aerobics, lap swim, and recreational swim. Ymca swimming lessons are more than just stroke development. They also include water safety, sports and games, and rescue skills. All taught with an emphasis on the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Social responsibility:ymca of San Joaquin County day camp program: the ymca operates day camps during school breaks for kids in kindergarten through 8th grade. We offer day camp to students in the lincoln, manteca and stockton unified school districts. Our day camps offer parents the opportunity to have quality care for their kids when school is not in session. The programs operate with weekly themes that incorporate learning opportunities, arts, crafts, and games. Our programs are fee based and operate from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm to accommodate working parents.
