The Young Womens Christian Association dedicates itself to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Program areas at Young Womens Christian Association

Shelter for abused & homeless women and childrenthe ywca shelter serves women and children who are victims of domestic violence as well as those who are homeless for other reasons. 311 adults and children were provided protective shelter in 2022 for a total of 9,281 nights of shelter. 1,530 hotline calls were answered. Case management, advocacy, court advocacy, specialized childrens programs, support groups, life-skill groups, referrals to other services and individual therapy are provided to residents and non-residents in addition to 24-hour crisis intervention services. As a result of contact with the ywca shelter, domestic violence survivors have improved strategies for enhancing their safety, gain knowledge of community resources and feel more hopeful about their future.
Child careywca discovery childcare is a state licensed center that provides quality, professional care in order to enhance the childs emotional, social, physical, and cognitive growth. We serve children from six weeks to six years of age from 6:30am to 5:30pm monday through friday. Care was provided to 66 children in 2022. State subsidy payments are accepted.
Community supportthe community support team serves women and men who have been survivors of domestic or sexual violence. As adults or in childhood. Depending on the survivors needs, these services may include hospital advocacy, crisis intervention/support through the 24-hour hotline, case management, court advocacy, law enforcement advocacy referral to other services, and individual/group therapy. Services are provided at no charge. 214 individuals received individual therapy in 2022. 78 survivors were provided substance abuse treatment services. 635 survivors were assisted with adovacy services. 68 households received financial assistance & supportive services related to housing & basic needs. 28 families were provided housing for 21,112 nights of housing and 1,228 hours of supportive services.
Healthy teen parents/healthy babies (htp/hb), choices/decisions and the grit centerhealthy teen parents/healthy babies provides education and support to teen parents by providing mentors, monthly group education meetings, home visits, and school visits. 82 teen parents were provided services in 2022 for a total of 380 service hours. Choices/decisions is a school-based, 12 week life skills mentoring program for at risk 7th grade students. 312 7th graders were enrolled in 2022. Grit provides a safe space where independent teens are surrounded by their peers, adult mentors and a support system. The program provides support along with recreational and educational services to teens ages 12-19. 109 teens were served from the community.
Bliss manor supported housingbliss manor serves as a bridge between emerency shelter and permanent housing. Supported housing programs provide free or low cost subsidized housing for a period of 6 months to 2 years. In addition to housing, supportive services are provided with the goal of achieving self sufficiency. Bliss manor provides subsidized housing and supportive services for women who have been victims of domestic and/or sexual violence and their children. There are 29 apartment units. In 2022, 21,112 nights of housing were provided to 28 families fleeing domestic or sexual violence. 1,228 hours of supportive services were provided.
In 2022, they developed the social justice and outreach department to focus on diversity, equity and inclusion (dei) trainings and partnerships. This program was only internal in 2022 and had no expenses.
