Scceba's mission is to educate key decision makers and the public about the benefit to the environment the economy, and the citizens of South Carolina of supporting clean energy technology in South Carolina, and to work with the other state and nonprofit organizations to foster investment funding for new clean energy business in South Carolina. The annual SC clean energy summits were scceba's most significant educational events in 2015 and 2016. Both meetings were held in Columbia, South Carolina, at the Columbia metropolitan Convention Center. The 2015 summit was held on Thursday, July 23, 2015, and the 2016 summit was held on Thursday, June 16, 2016. Both day-long meetings feature moderated panels of clean energy experts on such topics as solar energy efficiency and renewable energy financing: the summit audience of approximately 250 attendees represent the clean energy industry across the southeastern United States as well as the general public. Scuba managed every aspect of planning and securing speakers, moderators, raising funds to host the summits, budgeting, advertising and executing the one-day events. The total revenues raised for both the 2015 and 2016 summits were $64,923, and the total expenses were $26,714. Communication and education scceba dedicates a significant amount of time and resources to generating and broadcasting information to our 1,400 interested parties and more than 190 members. Scceba highlights clean energy news through weekly email newsflashes, Facebook posts, upcoming clean energy events, such as scceba's business roundtables, and annual clean energy summit, as well as accomplishments of our clean energy industry members. Scceba also publishes and mails printed quarterly newsletters to approximately 200 members and sends the newsletter to our more than 1,400 stakeholders. Scuba also updates its website monthly. USDA rural business enterprise grant: in 2015, scceba received a rural business enterprise grant from the u.s dept of agriculture rural development program to conduct two economic development and market feasibility studies for algae and biomass derived liquid biofuels in Colleton and clarendon counties and four stakeholder meetings in South Carolina. The studies aimed to determine feedstock availability, potential regional markets and site specific logistic information in Colleton and clarendon counties scceba partnered with military and commercial aviation industries, algal and biomass biofuel producers, and technical subcontractors in this effort in December 2015, scene and its subcontractor, scra, were granted a five-month extension on the two USDA grants to further study the feasibility of algae and biomass derived liquid biofuels a final report and addendum were submitted to the USDA in may 2016.
