Cause IQ allows you to search for organizations by:

• County
• City
• State
• Zip code
• Metro area

Our Location filter, found on your Search filter sidebar and within the "Name, type, and location" section of the Advacned search, allows you to search for all of the geographic options listed above, with the exception of zip code (which has its own, separate filter).

Note that our metro area options contain multiple cities for each selection, often in multiple states, surrounding a given major city. For example, the Washington, D.C. metro area contains Arlington, VA and Bethesda, MD.

Using a "Metro area" selection with our Location filter is the easiest way to search for results in a primary city as well as its surrounding areas. For example, when trying to find results in Washington, DC, using the "Metro: Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, DC-MD-VA-WV" option will include the larger geographical area. This is helpful when you are either unsure of a target organization's exact location or when performing geographical analysis.

All organizations also have a full address, which is another method of searching using geography.
