Cause IQ is excited to launch an upgraded version of our Foundation search tool, designed to improve our customers' experiences in searching for new potential funders. The newly redesigned tool is more intuitive, more user-friendly, and much more powerful. Here’s a detailed look at the changes we’ve made:

Relocated and streamlined filters for quicker searches

We’ve relocated all filters to the top section of the page, making the tool more intuitive to use and your searches more efficient. This placement allows you to instantly see and add the most popular foundation search filters:

• Foundation type
• Grant recipient type
• Grant recipient location
• Grant amounts

These one-click filters enable you to quickly start your searches and easily hone in on potential funders.

Advanced search to access other kinds of filters

To access all available foundation search filters, click the large, blue "See more filters" button to open the Advanced search module. Here, you can:

• Search and view all available foundation, grant, and grant recipient filters
• See how many organization matches each filter value has, helping you gauge results and adjust your filter selections accordingly
• Setup advanced queries to exclude certain types of organizations, ensuring your search results are highly relevant

Explain results popup to understand how filters work together

After you’ve added filters to your search, a new "Explain results" link appears next to your filters. Click this link to open a popup that explains how your added filters interact to produce your current search results. This feature includes:

• Venn diagram - A Venn diagram provides a visual representation of the filters applied to your search. This diagram helps you see the overlap and interaction between different filter types, and indicates where your results fall.
• Your current search - The "Your current search" section explains which filters are applied to your current search, which helps you understand the specific criteria that shape your search results.
• Next Steps - The "Next steps" section suggests a few commonly-used filters you might want to add to your search to further narrow down your results.

Simplified tab layout for easier navigation

The updated foundation search now has a two-tab layout, making it simpler to navigate between the information you care about:

• Foundations tab: This tab displays the list of foundations that match your search criteria.
• Grants tab: This tab provides detailed information on the grants awarded by the foundations in the Foundations tab, including: funder's name, grant amount, grant recipient, the fiscal year the grant was made, and grant description.

Download foundation, grant, and personnel lists (Pro subscribers only)

Customers with a Pro Subscription can download the matching foundations, grants, and foundation personnel from their search by clicking the "Download" tab in the Foundation search tool.

There are three steps to downloading from the Foundation search:

Step one: What to download - pick from three available options:

• Listing of grants made
• Foundations
• Key staff or board members at foundations

Step two: Additional details - All three download types come with preselected columns of data. For personnel downloads, you can customize which titles of individuals you want to include:

• Board chair / President
• Executive Director / CEO
• Grants / Development
• Programs

Step three: Confirm - this step shows you the number of grant or foundation records your download will contain, or the number of foundations that your personnel records will come from. To proceed with the download, click the "Start download" button.

Please note you can download lists of up to 3,000 foundation or grant records at a time, while personnel downloads are available when viewing 1,000 or fewer foundations.
