4B Disaster Response Network

Five years after Hurricane Harvey impacted the 4B area, we continued to rebuild homes, focusing on five types of families single parents, senior adults, widows, those with disabilities and veterans. Since 2017 we have worked in over 1700 homes and by the end of 2022 had totally rebuilt 500 homes to a pre-Harvey condition. We continue to be a volunteer-driven organization and have no full-time employees. We have four part-time employees who empower approx 100 volunteers a month. Since 2017 we have had over 10,000 volunteers assist us. We have also been repurposing a facility on the campus of Fellowship Church to serve as a Disaster Shelter and Operations Center. When complete, it will sleep 70-90 people and the commercial kitchen will provide approx 3,000 meals per day to shelter residents and the community at large. In between disasters, the facility will house volunteers who have traveled from outside the area and the kitchen will host a community meal program for the poorest families in our community.
