Kamp Kappa is a one-week outdoor overnight camp that affords 50 young men between the ages of 10 to 16 an authentic camping experience. During the week, campers sleep in tents and are awaken at 6 a.m. Under the voice of the camp director. These young men forego a week of cell phones, tablets and other electronic devices and replace them with outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing and fishing. Amir williams, a member of Kappa alpha psi, a former camper describes the significance of his experience at kamp Kappa. The highlight of the week is a series called street law seminars, where the young men put on a mock trial in the eastern district courtroom under the guidance of a federal judge. This is an opportunity afforded to the young to have them better understand both the legal and criminal justice system.
