A Safe Place empowers individuals in the Nantucket community to live a life free from violence by eliminating domestic violence and sexual assault. Advocates are available 24/7 to answer calls, assist with restraining orders, and provide support as needed. Trained rape crisis counselors offer information and options via the hotline, and survivors receive ongoing support and counseling from caring staff.

Program areas at A Safe Place

Domestic violence services - advocates are available to answer calls to our 24-hour hotline, respond in person to assist with restraining orders in court or at the police station, and provide support as requested. Depending on the needs of the client, services range from A listening ear to basic needs items such as food and clothing. In extremely high risk situations, there is an emergency "Safe home". Individual and group counseling are important components of this program.
Trauma therapy services - provides free counseling from licensed therapists for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Sexual assault prevention - trained rape crisis counselors are available to provide information, support and options via our 24-hour hotline. In the aftermath, our caring and knowledgeable staff will provide on-going support and counseling to the survivor and/or their friends and family. Individual and group counseling are available.
Community outreach and education including school presentations, volunteer training and awareness raising activities.
