Program areas at Abaco Rescue Fund Non-Profit Corporation

Following Hurricane Dorian in the Abaco region of the Bahamas, initially provided emergency transportation services and flew dozens of relief flights removing hundreds of people from the disaster zone, primarily family units with small children. Transitioned to finding temporary housing in the US for as long as visas allowed. Then started helping clear land and assess the condition of still standing houses. Transitioned to work on reroofing existing structures and rebuilding community centers and completely destroyed houses. Our goals are to: Aid Abaconian victims of Hurricane Dorian by securing and preserving the immediate life and safety of those displaced via emergency & tactical relief response. This includes providing evacuations, rent deposits, school tuition, and humanitarian aid in the form of clothing, furniture, food, water, shoes, school supplies, bicycles, toys, and gift cards. Secure safe housing for those whose homes were affected. This includes home repairs, mold remediation, complete home rebuilds, reroofing, supplying generators, and donating building materials to residents, churches, schools, and community parks. Assist with practical, medical, emotional and spiritual trauma support to facilitate the start of the recovery process. Bring communities back together by hosting community events consisting of celebrations, meals, beverages, music, donation distribution, and special guest appearances. We have donated over 100 bikes, over 100 stockings and childrens bibles, over 1000 textbooks and workbooks, clothes, over 500 pairs of shoes, warm meals, and a whole lot of love at these events.
