Program areas at Abba's Pride
Hosting mission teams and interns (1) Providing opportunity for individuals to use their skills and passions to impact orphaned/vulnerable children in under-resourced communities. Teams provide training and assistance in carrying out vacation Bible school/holiday club programs, after-school programs (including sport and tutoring); presenting programs in public schools; training and modeling for teachers. (2) Serve South Africa: an internship program where young adults are challenged and encouraged to develop their leadership skills, immerse into an under-resourced community and provide a sustainable contribution to the community. 6 young adults and two internship coordinators participated in Serve South Africa.
Feeding orphaned and vulnerable children: (1) provide two meals a day (school days) for over 530 children (2) distributed over 325 grocery packets (feeding a family of 4 one meal a day for 10 days) to families of orphaned/vulnerable children during holidays (3) distributed food donations from three companies to under-resourced centers (4) sustainable food sources: continued to support agriculture projects producing food for early childhood teachers and under-resourced communities. This includes providing seedlings, farming training, utensils, etc.
Early childhood education and after-school programming for orphaned and vulnerable children: (1) Equipping early childhood centers through donations of equipment and funding; 6 centers (2) Community Training Events; large groups of teachers (80-90) teachers 4 times a year (3) Mentoring and coaching of 25 early childhood practitioners: monthly one day theory and practical skills seminars; site visits, observations, coaching. (4) Activities planned and executed for children - by demonstration and equipping teachers. (5) After-school programming including sport and homework assistance for up to 150 children in two under-resourced communities. (6) Theory instruction with the potential of leading to early childhood certification if the practitioner desires (7) Improving learning environment through building and construction projects (8) Children?s Camp ? Hosted 100 children and 80 adult volunteers
