Program areas at Abolitionist Teaching Network

In 2023, atn used funds to train teachers in Abolitionist & anti-racist pedagogies, creating a replicable curriculum to use for years to come. The Network dispersed mini grants to dozens of teachers, activists, single moms, and incarcerated people. The organization partnered with other organizations and individuals in order to carry out its programmatic mission & goals and build a coalition of organizations dedicated to educational liberation across the country. A large portion of the workincluded an extensive on the ground organizing campaign in atlanta around a teacher's impending prison sentence. Atn was able to also produce information & resources for parents about their choices in regards to their children's standardized testing. The organization carried out regular programming including the annual conference.
Abolitionist Teaching Network awards funds to individuals who strive to disrupt inequalities and injustice in their schools and communities. Board officers and Abolitionist Teaching Network staff coordinate and administer the program, while board members and community volunteers evaluate the applications.
