Program areas at ALCS
The academic leadership charter school (ALCS) opened in the South Bronx in September of 2009 with 150 Kindergarten and First Grade students. Now the school served students in grades K-8. Through a commitment to broad-based education for all students ranging from the basics of reading and mathematics to fine arts and technology we teach the next generation of community leaders. We depend on the full commitment of our students, their parents, our teachers, and the administration. Through the partnership of these groups, our school provides a better future for our students, shaping them into individuals and leaders in our community. We have received the National Blue-Ribbon School of Excellence, along with New York State Awards (Recognition School). This is all thanks to our wonderful teachers, staff and administration that work tirelessly to provide a great experience for youth while we grow academically. With this excellent support, children have a safe environment for learning, and a safe environment for personal growth. We have topped state testing averages by 40% percent for ELA and 30% for math, according to the New York State Education Department data from the 2019 school year. We score higher than 95% of public schools in NYS, according to schooldigger.com, Greatschools.org gives our school a 10/10, and we are considered a noteworthy school by insideschools.org.
