Program areas at Academy of Finance Nevada

Academy of Finance Nevada provided ten paid internship opportunities during the 2023 fye 06/30/24. These internships provided students with structured learning experiences in a professional, real-world setting, allowing each student to gain valuable work experience. Students work for approximately 80 hours during each semester, in business and Finance and in industries including retail, non-profit, banking, Finance, design, marketing, advertising, insurance and others. Intern providers work with students to develop professional skills such as, project management, time management, professional communication, and customer service. Intern providers also evaluate students at the conclusion of their internship and attend an internship presentation in which students recap their internship experience.
The mission of the Academy of Finance is to provide a unique program that supports the education and development of Nevada youth beginning in high-school and extending into their future.
Academy of Finance Nevada provided a multitude of educational and experiential events during the 2023 fye 06/30/24. These events included luncheons and seminars related to: business attire, etiquette, book and reading workshops, and mock interviews. The largest ongoing event is the mentor program, which pairs students with a business professional who serves as a mentor during the student's high school years. The business professional can serve as a resource for students working on class assignments, or just to discuss hobbies and high school in general. Business professionals are asked to volunteer their time to mentor 1 or 2 Academy of Finance students. Mentors are asked to meet at least monthly for a class period and be prepared to discuss topics of the student's choice. The mentor program also has periodic events where all mentors and mentees meet in a group setting to discuss current events, happenings, books and other topics.
