Access Press, Ltd was established in 1990 and is currently in its 28th year as the community news source for Minnesotas disability community. Access Press, Ltd is one of the only cross-disability newspapers in the nation. Access Press, Ltd has a long-standing record of participation in both in-person and social media events, including and representing the often-marginalized voices of Minnesotas disability community, at local conferences, on Facebook, Twitter, and its website, www.accesspress.org. An increasing number of readers from the disability community are following Access Press through these outlets. Access Press, Ltd serves an essential function in demonstrating the power of the people as they come together across disabilities through the power of their words. Access Press, Ltd provides a valuable platform to what is ultimately the largest minority group, one that each of us will join at some point in our lives, whether born with a disability or acquire one as we age. Access Press, Ltd outreach connects more than 150 nonprofit organizations in Minnesota, through its quarterly Directory of Organizations, celebrates accessibility and advocacy at the annual Charlie Smith Award event, and disseminates critical news and information through our monthly online and print newspaper. Access Press, Ltd offers features about issues important to our local and greater Minnesota disability communities, legislative updates, a calendar of accessible events, and other pertinent news written by and for the disability community. Access Press, Ltd aims to be inclusive by promoting social inclusion as well as legal rights for all individuals with all types of disability, physical or cognitive. Access Press, Ltd publishes a monthly tabloid-sized edition of 16 pages on the 10th day of every calendar month. The current circulation of more than 11,000 copies, is distributed to 500+ individual subscribers and 310 free statewide drop sites. Access Press, Ltd will provide copies of the paper to Minnesota legislators during any legislative session at their request.
