Aclu of Utah Foundation

Education & outreach we offer valuable public education about civil liberties in general and the rights of specific marginalized groups in particular. Our goals have always been to empower the public to exercise their rights, and to be available to assistant the community in doing so. Through a variety of public events and rallies, hundreds of community members come together to exercise, advocate for, and educate others about their fundamental rights. We celebrate the achievements of community members and our partners through awarding a variety of awards to local civil rights activists and leaders.

Legal the Aclu of Utah Foundation receives hundreds of requests for legal assistance from individuals each year through the mail, phone, and email. We review each inquiry and provide a customized response. We select legal cases to pursue according to criteria that include: the nature of the complaint, the impact of the issue beyond the individual complainant, the novelty of the issue, and the availability of alternative legal assistance. In addition to litigation, we undertake legal advocacy with local and state elected officials and policymakers.
