Description
AdopteeBridge supports transracial and transnational adoptees in exploring their identity, birthland, and adoption stories. The organization started with a support group that aimed to become more diverse racially, which is now virtual due to the pandemic. It has opened up to people from other parts of the country. AdopteeBridge also leads Birthland Tours to Korea for Korean adoptees who want to explore their family connections and culture of their birthplace, but this has been affected by Covid-19 and US Government restrictions. AdopteeBridge is located in Arden Hills, MN.

Birthland Tours to Korea. Supports Korean Adoptees who wish to explore their family connections and connections to the land and culture of their birth by leading tours and supporting them as they explore their personal story. Due to Covid and US Government Do Not Travel advisory, we canceled our summer tours and held only one tour in the Fall
OurHistory support group for transracial and transnational adults. This group became more diverse racially which was one of our goals. It moved to a virtual format due to the pandemic. That opened it to people form other parts of the country, but the relationship building was not as good. As with the youth, the participants really needed a "place" (even if virtual) to share frustrations and pain, and receive support from others. We hosted one in-person weekend retreats with healing as the purpose.
Mentorship Program (OurRoots). A group of youth mentees and adult mentors, all of whom are transracial/transnational adoptees, gather for social activities and discussions of interest to them.
Post adoption services: This includes helping with searches for birth families, translating documents, assisting with birth family meetings, communication with adoption agencies.
We have several smaller programs, some that we try and never do again, including support for aged out orphans (on going), small mental health group for teens led my a Mental Health Professional (once), Virtual teen game night (a couple times), translation of foreign language, adoption related, forms and letters,
