Apsi contracts with the Ohio department of developmental disabilities to provide guardianship and other decision-making support for adults with developmental disabilities according to Ohio law and by the authority of Ohio probate courts. As guardian of the person only, apsi makes day-to-day decisions on behalf of the individual, addressing matters such as living arrangements, service providers, and medical care. Apsi does not serve as guardian of the estate, which covers the individual's finances and property.continues on schedule oduring the fiscal year ended june 30, 2023, apsi served 3,228 individuals throughout Ohio. Apsi specializes in serving individuals with the highest level of needs in the least restrictive manner possible. To ensure the health and safety of these clients, apsi staff completed 20,796 virtual or in-person visits to our clients' homes and work settings, provided consent for 19,618 medical and program Services, and responded to 8,122 after-hours phone calls.apsi promotes self-determination, self-advocacy, and principles of least restrictive Services focused on person-centered planning. Apsi staff are committed to enhancing an individual's quality of life in a way that best supports individual needs and preferences while protecting the person from harm. Apsi provides guardianship Services that maximize what is best for the person with consideration of the least intrusive, most normalizing, and least restrictive course of action possible given the needs of the individual.
