Advocacy Institute's mission is to build advocacy skills, knowledge, and power to shape government policy for a more equitable and just New York. They support social justice organizations in achieving their goals and offer an in-depth leadership development program aimed at building the skills of emerging advocacy leaders of color. Advocacy Institute works with underrepresented groups throughout New York City and State to provide them with the tools to effectively fight for policy change.

Program areas at Advocacy Institute

Leadership development program - Advocacy Institute offers an in-depth leadership development program aimed at building and deepening the skills of emerging Advocacy leaders of color. Through our programming, Advocacy Institute strengthens new york's social justice ecosystem by supporting advocates to gain the skills, knowledge, and connections needed to build effective statewide coalitions that can win transformative legislative reforms.
Membership - members have access to an online community with its collection of campaign resources: legislative directory, interactive legislature snapshots, data about state and local officials, tools for campaign tracking and instant support from the Advocacy Institute team. Several of Advocacy Institute's tools are available in both english and spanish.
Training - Advocacy Institute works with communities of color, immigrants, low-income people, lgbtq+ people, and other underrepresented groups throughout new york city and state to provide them with the tools to fight for policy change more effectively. Advocacy Institute offers dynamic trainings on the legislative process and interactive tools that map out power relationships in state and local government.
