Advocate Safehouse Project promotes healthy relationships free from violence through advocacy, collaboration, education, and shelter. The outreach program supports survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence by providing legal advocacy, emotional support, safety planning, information/referrals, resource identification, and case management. The residential Safehouse program offers emergency shelter for survivors and their children with emotional support, crisis intervention, and access to other services.

Program areas at Advocate Safehouse Project

The outreach program offers support to survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence including legal advocacy in both civil and criminal courts, emotional support and advocacy through safety planning, information/referrals, resource identification, case management, survivor education, and working with other community resources. The organization handled more than 3,866 contacts with 572 clients (domestic violence and sexual assault survivors). The outreach program includes a 24-hour help line staffed by volunteer, trained advocates who provided 4,595 hours of service in 2023. The outreach program includes individual and group counseling. In 2023, 197 nonresidential survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence were offered support, advocacy, information, and referrals. The latinx outreach program reached 167 latinx survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence and the youth program provided 61 youth survivors with emotional support, advocacy, information, and referrals with asps youth program.
Housing first program provides rental assistance in a safe environment. In 2023, 29 adult survivors of domestic violence and their 54 children of the survivors were provided 142 months of rental assistance.
The residential Safehouse program provides emergency shelter for domestic and/or sexual violence survivors and their children. This program provides emotional support for adults and children, crisis intervention, and access to other services provided by the organization (asp). The length of stay varies from one night to twelve plus weeks. Approximately 60% of the residents food is provided by asp during their stay. Asp provided over 2,605 nights of emergency shelter to 31 families with 22 children in 2023.
Community education program seeks to inform and educate students, professionals, authorities, and community groups on the importance of healthy relationships through presentations and participating in local media interviews, health fairs, and wellness programs. In 2023, asp conducted 31 educational presentations to 836 individuals in garfield county, and 54 community awareness activities with the focus on developing healthy relationships.
