Apprenticeship and work-based learning. The AFL-CIO Working for America Institute is engaged with labor, employers as well as national state and local intermediaries in expanding high-quality apprenticeship, notably in advanced manufacturing including the industrial manufacturing technician (imt) registered apprenticeship. The Institute is also Working with labor, employers and workforce intermediaries and educational institutions to develop apprenticeships and workforce development in the information technology hospitality and other industries.
Energy work. AFL-CIO Working for America Institute's energy program is focused on promoting broad-based climate solutions, quality job growth and retention, and social equity. In the regard, the Institute has partnered with other organizations to support the labor energy partnership (lep). This partnership is focused on public education and communications and expanding energy policy work on key issues around the energy transition. In addition, the intitute is also Working to develop a suite of concrete policy proposals for key decarbonizing technologies.
