Program areas at After Innocence

Post-Release assistance for people nationwide who have been released after wrongful imprisonment. Services include trauma-informed case management to ensure clients get, understand and make use of the healthcare -- including mental health treatment -- and social services they are eligible for in their communities.We coordinate programs that provide clients with free assistance with filing taxes, obtianing pandemic-related stuimulus payments, financial counseling, and dental care.Technical assistance and advocacy to support the enactment of state statutes that provide a transparent processs through which individuals who establish that they had been imprisoned for crimes they did not commit receive meaningful compensation and effective post-release support from the state.
