Program areas at Age Us
Build and strengthen capacity of communities to better serve low incomeolder adults and their support networks in Oregon utilizing asset based community development principles by accomplishing the following:1. With federal funding through the national council on aging via acl, increased vaccination uptake in rural Oregon counties among older adults and people with disabilities. We created local partnerships with senior centers and local public health authorities to host vaccination clinics for both flu and covid.2. Continued website and online support group for the ties that bind program for grandparents and kinship caregivers raising children that fills the unmet need for training, peer support and resources.3. Continued to provide technical assistance to local public health departments on age-friendly outreach strategies and Age bias to achieve equitable health outcomes across the lifespan.
Increased awareness and support systems change that responds to Oregon's changing Age structure that is strengths based and equitable for older adults and their support networks.1. Produced annual ageless awards event to honor the significant contriubtions of older adults 75 and older.2.provide technical expertise in the field of aging, the implications of our changing demographics, innovative soultions, and convene other subject matter experts through speaking and educational opportunities to community groups, local leaders, and providing testimony to the Oregon legislature. 3.continue to lead efforts to advance a multi-sector planning effort for aging in Oregon.
Provided low income housing and services to older adults in rural areas1. Started construction of 2 new affordable housing developments for low income older adults in rural areas using a modular approach.2. Continued to grow circles of care program in rural wasco, hood river and jackson counties in Oregon to address needs of older adults with various services such as transportation, yard work, grocery shopping, minor maintenance and repair, etc.
