Program areas at Aging and Disability Resource Center of Brown County
Adrc assistance and advocacy:adrc specialists provide adults with disabilities, older adults, and their caregivers with current, unbiased, and comprehensive information to help them live as independently as possible. Each individual's situation is assessed based on personal preferences, values, needs, strengths, weaknesses, and resources. This personalized approach ensures the selection of tailored information about service options and costs, ensuring informed decisions. For eligible individuals, the adrc serves as the entry point into the publicly funded long-term care system. Benefit specialists educate and advocate for older adults and adults with disabilities, helping customers explore their options regarding private and government benefits.
Grounded cafe programs: grounded cafe offers a cozy spot for friends to gather over coffee, breakfast, or lunch on site and offers grounded on the go with our ada accessible food truck out in the community. The cafe functions as a training program for people with disabilities, equipping them for future employment. Grounded cafe challenges stereotypes and celebrates individual, unique abilities.
Nutrition program:the adrc nutrition program annually serves nutritious meals to over 2,300 Brown County residents aged 60 and older. Meals are provided at community dining sites, pop-up dining events, and to the doorsteps of eligible individuals. In 2023, we served 24,518 community dining meals and 124,072 home-delivered meals. Meals are offered on a donation basis and include regular nutrition education. Community dining offers social connection while home delivered offers a daily interaction and wellness check. One in five customers report that the meals give them "something to look forward to, and half of our customers say the meals provide "a sense of safety and security."
Prevention programs:the adrc offers programs to enhance quality of life and reduce or eliminate the need for costly long-term care services.
