Program areas at Ahtna Heritage Foundation

Ahtna Heritage strives to document for posperity the Ahtna language. We also have a program for teaching youth the Ahtna language.
Ahtna Heritage Foundation runs and maintains a cultural center. The center displays interpretive information about the Ahtna culture and houses a large archive of information. The goal of the center is to educate the public and Ahtna people as well as maintain a record for future generations. The center employs youth workers in the summer and also is a venue for selling Ahtna artwork to the public.
Ahtna Heritage Foundation provides one scholarship program: walter charley memorial scholarship. The scholarships are for college students, with a maximum of $2,000 per semester, for two semesters each year. Application deadlines are twice per year. A scholarship committee meets twice each year to approve and disapprove applicants. Scholarship programs are based on Ahtna tribal shares for eligibility.
