Program areas at Ai4all
College pathways: the 2023 tax year was a year of reimagination and transformation for Ai4all as the organization focused its efforts on prioritizing all its programming for college-age students. The college pathways initiative was designed to spark interest and increase persistence in ai-related careers for college students from historically excluded groups. In 2023, two of the programs in this initiative (discover ai and apply ai) were running in partnership with sixteen partner institutions, including Texas a&m university, university of Illinois at urbana-champaign, and university of Maryland baltimore county. In 2023, Ai4all piloted talent edge, a new program focused on career readiness and internship preparation for college-aged students. Ai4all later that year confirmed that apply ai and talent edge would be the components of its new program, the ignite accelerator, which focuses on responsible ai and career readiness. Ignite was launched in spring 2024 and is now the only program that Ai4all offers. The college pathways initiative was piloted in 2019 and launched in 2020. In 2023, over 350 students completed discover ai, apply ai, or talent edge.
Changemakers in ai: starting in 2023, only students who completed the college pathways program were invited to join the Ai4all alumni community, changemakers in ai. Prior to 2022, graduates of Ai4all's summer programs were also eligible to join the changemakers in ai community. Through this community, students gain access to a growing peer network, leadership opportunities, and other encouragement to increase their participation in ai. In 2023, approximately 1,800 students were members of the changemakers in ai community.
