Aids Community Research Initiative of America (ACRIA)

Clinical trials Research - acria conducts clinical trials of promising new therapies for hiv and related illnesses and for the treatment of the side effects of hiv medications. Since acria's founding in 1991, the organization has participated in trials of over 100 drugs, more than a dozen of which have been approved by the fda. During the period july 1, 2014 through june 30, 2014, acria took part in five clinical trials completing three during the year.applied and transitional Research - applied and translational Research at acria centers largely around issues of hiv and aging, an area in which the organization has earned a national reputation as a leader and resource. During fy15, among other things, acria's researchers studied the service needs and the treatment of depression in hiv-positive older adults, presented at major conferences and collaborated with researchers in this country and abroad on hiv and aging issues.

Hiv health literacy program - hhlp conducts a broad range of hiv health literacy and healthcare and treatment education programs, including staff trainings and client workshops at new york city Aids service organizations, other community-based organizations serving people with hiv, and organizations serving the aging. Hhlp is the new york state department of health Aids institute-funded center of expertise on hiv and aging; a nyc council funded city-wide center of expertise on hiv and aging, has a national hiv technical assistance and capacity building program, and produces a number of hiv specifc and hiv related publications such as the achieve magazine.
