Program areas at Akron Childrens Museum
Akron children'Childrens's Museum has maximized resources and knowledge and is increasingly being recognized as a leader and a desired partner for early childhood and elementary education by evidence of its services provided to all 1,800 Akron public school kindergarteners, all summit county headstart centers, and multiple ymca afterschool programs. In 2023, acm welcomed 45,334 visitors. The Museum provided 713 new memberships, served 3,540 students on field trips, served another 855 students through its mobile Museum, hosted 614 head start students and held 239 birthday parties that hosted 6,743 attendees. In 2023, the Museum celebrated the completion of an expansion project that included the addition of 3,000 square feet and ten new features, including a rocket exhibit, sensory room, sound studio, wind & air tube wall, two private party rooms, and a redesigned makerspace to host steam education experiences. The Museum and its exhibits provide essential learning spaces, cross- cultural connections, and important foundational experiences for our youngest learners. The Museum also provides economic value to the region through tourism. Removing financial barriers to acm's exhibits through its' all access kids fund and museums for all program ensures everyone can benefit from the educational spaces at the Akron children'Childrens's Museum.
