Program areas at Alamance County Community Services Agency
The Community Services block grant (csbg) self-sufficiency program is designed to provide comprehensive case management Services to eligible individuals and families with a focus on employment and better employment, childcare, education assistance, budget management, limited transportation, housing, and food assistance. During fiscal year 2023/2024 the program assisted 104 families with 11 families rising above poverty, 8 families obtaining employment, 31 families obtaining better employment, 7 families obtaining jobs with medical benefits, 8 families securing standard housing, 40 families were provided emergency assistance, 22 families were provided employment supports, 13 families were provided food to counteract starvation, 40 families were provided education supports, 6 families were provided child care assistance, 32 families maintained their housing, 6 families were provided utillity assistance, 3 families were protected from disconnection of electrical Services, and 1 family was provided fuel for heating purposes.
Emergency food assistance program (erap): erap is designed to reduce the number of families experiencing food insecurities in Alamance County. Households experiencing emergency situations qualify for food assistance through erap. Households will receive emergency food which may include a three-day supply of non-perishable food items once every three months. Special dietary foods may be available upon request. During fiscal year 2023/2024 the erap program assisted 292 families that included 832 individuals.
Additional assistance focussed on children and the elderly.
