Program areas at AMCC
Fisheries Conservation- amcc educates, advocates, and works with stakeholders on management strategies that ensure the long-term health of Alaska's fisheries and Marine ecosystems; our focus is on reducing bycatch of species like halibut and protecting Marine habitat from the impacts of industrial-scale and harmful fishing practices.
Working waterfronts- through research, education, and advocacy amcc supports fishing opportunities for local, small-scale fishermen. Our projects address policies, market opportunities, and the aging of Alaska's fishing fleet, and support for new fishermen through the Alaska young fishermen's network.
Catch 49 - catch 49 serves Alaska fishermen and consumers by bringing seafood caught by environmentally focused small boat fishermen to alaskans. This program promotes sustainable fisheries, directly connects consumers to local, healthy seafood, creates economic opportunity in our small coastal communities, and helps strengthen Alaska's local food system.
