Program areas at All Aboard of America 1
Our activities are Monday-Friday, our participants pay for the session (half day) not per activity. We do not offer medical care, we are just a daytime activity center for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Activities we offer include -Arts and crafts: usually school-age crafts, themed for whatever topic or holiday were doing that weekhealthy snack class: we teach the participants how to make a veggie+protein heavy snack, then they get to make their ownscience experiments: everything from color-changing daisies to coke & mentos explosionsAll Aboard TV: we have a digital camera and a desk + greenscreen setup so that participants can do a news/broadcast tv show about themselves and their communityRPG Dice Game: similar to Dungeons & dragons but toned down a little and usually set up with disney or superhero characters for the participants to play asYoga: senior-and-wheelchair friendly chair yoga to encourages stretching and build muscleKaraoke: exactly what it sounds like, we have a volunteer that DJ plays requests, our participants get to go on our stage and sing their songs into the microphoneSelf-Care & Hygiene: kind of a discussion about hygiene importance, plus how-tosDance Party: black light, music, glow sticks :) Board Games: we have a collection of puzzles and board games for the Smoothie Class: similar to healthy snack class, we make smoothies with/for the participantsBingo: participants play for prizes like stickers, candy, donated dvds, etc (no cash prizes, and its an activity we do one session a week but they pay for the session, not to play the game)Coffee Social: we serve decaf coffee and tea and let the participants just sit and chatWe also have our Dance Party (formerly SPIN Dance) once a month, which is external to our activity center in Everett but is solely run/sponsored by us. Its a dance party with a DJ, we ask for $1 voluntary donations at the door.
