Program areas at Allegheny County Bar Association
Membership services: the Allegheny County Bar Association is a professional organization with approximately 5,300 members who have access to a variety of programs and services. Each year the Association conducts various projects that touch many aspects of the community and the legal profession. The members form the substance that makes the Association work, and hold together a wide range of interests and projects. The Association members work to improve the profession, the community in which they live, and the administration of justice in society.
Continuing legal education: the Association provides continuing legal education programs for attorneys to assist them in meeting their Pennsylvania licensing requirements. The Association offered 160 programs on a wide range of subject matters presented by members and other state and national subject matter experts. Programs are offered in three formats, live in person, online, and video replay. The acba is committed to offering high quality programs that are convenient and affordable for attorneys.
Publications: the organization publishes the pittsburgh legal journal and the lawyers journal (circulation approximately 6,000) which provide critical legal related information and news to the community.
Lawyer referral services: the organization provides lawyer referral services designed to assist the public in locating lawyers for specific types of legal matters. (approximately 14,700 legal assistance inquiries were processed in the current year).
