Alliance for Flushing Meadows Corona Park Corporation

In 2024, the Alliance continued its trajectory of growth as an independent organization following the separation from its fiscal sponsor the previous year. The conservation corps workforce development program grew by nearly 50%, with an enhanced programmatic capacity thanks to a grant-supported partnership with ladders for leaders. The volunteer program reached a new high of 2,700 annual participants while expanding its scope to include a greater emphasis on climate change resiliency in the Park and new opportunities for environmental education like birdwatching. Our seasonal arts and culture programming continued to expand, with additional dates for our free silent disco and salsa concerts. New this year was a music performance series in partnership with queens college, where the Alliance provided stipends to student musicians for concerts in the Park's dinkins circle. The Alliance's maintenance operations in the Park also had a successful year beyond the seasonal staff positions it funds. The Alliance focused on combating litter in the Park by providing reusable, portable trash bins at large events and expanding compost operations. The Alliance also provided lumber and materials for ongoing maintenance work on the high-traffic passerelle boardwalk, at the Park's northern entrance.
