Program areas at Alliance for Justice Action Campaign
Education: afj Action Campaign educates voters and the public about the importance of federal courts and state supreme courts on constitutional rights and protections. Afj Action highlights corruption and conflicts of interest of multiple supreme court justices, including conducting national media campaigns and mobilizing organizational partners to highlight ethics issues at the court and call for court reforms. Afj Action also releases an educational annual report on the landscape of state supreme courts elections and key developments each year. Afj Action also creates new resources to help coalitionmembers with different tax statuses understand how they can work together without jeopardizing their 501(c)(3) partners. These resources were posted on afjac's website, shared with funders, and disseminated at conferences and coalition trainings.
Lobbying: afj Action motivates and organizes grassroots advocates to support federal and state judicial nominees committed to equal Justice who represent the breadth of diversity in the country and legal profession. Afj Action plays a key role in mobilizing the public to support judicial confirmations and urge congress to enact ethics reform legislation. Afj Action has also led advocacy for historic confirmations of judges with backgrounds in labor, democracy, voting rights, civil rights and other progressive movements.
Partisan work: afj Action educates voters about their senators and the president's confirmation of federal judges to hold them accountable, and the importance of voting for state supreme court justices who will protect our rights. Afj Action conducts direct voter outreach, runs targeted digital and media campaigns, co-convenes a network of national organizations investing in state court races, and supports coalitions of state groups engaging in state court races.
