Program areas at Alliance for Kids

Fellowship:our child life specialist fellowship program provides 1 year of clinical experience for a certified child life specialist, ccls, with Alliance partner hospitals to provide child life services to a new area of the medical facility, currently without child life support. Once documented need and value is established and when the fellowship year is complete, the hospitals retain the ccls as a full time employee.
Bravery bands:on admission, each little patient receives a rainbow silicone band for their wrist. Over the course of their hospital stay, the patient will receive additional bands for each of their major hospital experiences. This program gives children a way to communicate about their hopital experiences. The reward of the band encourages them and helps them cope with the procedure. We provided bravery bands for over 18,500 pediatric hopital patients within 9 hospitals.
Monkey for me:our goal is for every hospitalized child to receive a monkey upon admission. We provided this program to 10 pediatric hospitals and their patients this year.every child will receive a monkey for me bag with their very own...-ultra soft monkey to stuff -a t-shirt for the monkey-a birth certificate and a heart-a welcome book with information for both the patient and their family-crayons
Child life: certified child life specialists are hospital ambassadors, educators, advocates and a personal support system for patients and their families. Certified child life specialists prepare patients for and distract them during procedures, offer coping skills and give patients and their families the tools to make their experience a positive one. Rescue:alliance for Kids began solely as a resource database for families of hospitalized children. Alliance for Kids supplies families with an online database for local, state and national resources to help navigate the difficult experience of having an ill child. Allianceforkids.com is the one place families can go to find many resources for camps, financial assistance, diagnosis education, and support. Alliance for Kids provides the web page and 500 up-to-date resources for patients and families. Super serum:a new way to think about iv medicine!our "little heroes" have their very own super serum shield that covers and transforms their iv medication bag into a super power.little patients receive a super Alliance cape, a super sack, and comic to help change their perceptions about medication. for example, "chemo" becomes "super serum" to make receiving iv medication less scary.it is our belief that if children can change their negative perceptions about their illness and treatment to a positive one, it will help reduce the long term effects of hospitalization. Super serum animation series:being in the hospital can be scary business. We help children cope with our 3-d animation series. Our videos prepare them for difficult procedures and common childhood diagnoses in a fun super hero way.
