PUBLIC OVERSIGHT of both regulators and regulated utilities and governmental agencies; filed as intervenors with active participation in California Public Utilities Commission proceedings regarding General Rate Cases bankruptcy and securitization for Pacific Gas and Electric; active intervenors in CPUC proceeding of PGandE Nuclear Decommissioning Cost Triennial Proceeding for Diablo Canyon achieved ratepayer cost reductions of over $300 million and expedited transfer of hazardous nuclear waste to safer storage; filed as intervenors in the Nuclear Decommissioning Cost Triennial Proceeding for the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station; Active discussion and monitoring of nuclear waste cask design and vendor selection with California Energy Commission; Provide and file comments with both Diablo Canyon Independent Safety Committee and Diablo Canyon Decommissioning Engagement Panel; monitor NRC notices of violation and incident reports for Diablo Canyon during years of repeated unplanned outages at Unit 2 requiring costly repairs orreplacement power.
REGULATORY LIAISON between state non-governmental organizations and federal nuclear regulators; participated in NRC public meetings via Zoom; provided data and input to NRC sponsored research paper on the role of local communities and the formation of local decommissioning engagement panels; facilitated meetings and contacts between federal agencies tasked with navigating the economic impacts of decommissioning reactors on host communities and local community business development partnerships chambers of commerce and elected officials.
EDUCATION AND OUTREACH - MAINTAIN WEBSITE AS A RESOURCE AND ARCHIVE FOR CURRENT AND PAST NUCLEAR ENERGY ARTICLES and maintains YouTube video channel to provide visual documentation of public meetings and Alliance participation in public deliberative proceedings FILINGS PETITIONS AND STORIES; NETWORKED WITH OTHER CALIFORNIA AND NATIONAL GROUPS ENGAGED IN NUCLEAR POWER ISSUES; PROVIDED RESEARCH AND HISTORICAL BACKGROUND DATA TO STATE OVERSIGHT AGENCIES AND NATIONAL GROUPS.
